My piece is a four-color screenprint using the image of corn to speak about the
first gift native people gave to a people hungry and sick. Native people
helped new arrivals to our land survive a harsh winter and gave the gift of
food and love. The piece is called It Began as a Gift. There is and was
beauty in this gift. I honor it in this piece.
